We are so excited to introduce the newest member of the JETPUBS team – Diane Kaiser! She has shared a little bit about her background here:
“My employment started at Northwest Aerospace Training Corporation (NATCO) on September 28, 1988. This was a subsidiary company of NWA, training pilots from around the world. NATCO was formed in 1987 so the building was sparsely furnished. We sat at folding tables with cardboard boxes for trash cans. The publishing software was loaded onto a computer that ran the simulators and was approximately the size of a refrigerator so I had to sit in the basement computer room for the first six months. In 1991, NATCO employees were absorbed into NWA Flight Operations. During the 1990s, NWA converted all of its Pilot Flight Manuals to a new information mapping format, resulting in each fleet’s manuals having to be completely rewritten using templates that I created. From 2005 through 2009, NWA was the North American launch customer for the new Boeing 787 aircraft. One of the new features of this aircraft was the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and E-enabling technology that utilizes digital data to transmit documents electronically to the aircraft and display them on the latest state-of-the-art EFB units. This new technology required a completely new way of electronically publishing manuals in Structured FrameMaker and I was a key contributor to the project. Lastly, the past three years have been spent converting all of the former NWA Pilot Training manuals to the Delta Airlines format. This involved working with fleet Subject Matter Experts to ensure that the training information was transferred to the new format and style without losing any of the critical content. All files have been converted and will be critical to the future transition of documents to EFS when Delta upgrades to the new systems. I’m looking forward to bringing my airline publishing experience to JETPUBS.”
