‘Tis the season in the Midwest to break out the snow blowers, shovels, and salt as we welcome winter wonderland and all of the elements that accompany it. We attempt to stay warm by bundling up with everything from heavy winter coats to fluffy boots, and we guzzle drinks such as hot chocolate and spiced apple cider.
As this winter weather approaches, we also enter into the season of giving. In looking to give back, the JETPUBS Community Involvement Committee scoured through our local paper and came across the “Spirit of Giving” column. We selected the perfect cause to give back to: a local drive for Operation HELP to provide hats, mittens, and scarves to individuals in our community.
Once we selected this cause, our group quickly assembled a collection box and the team started their shopping. It was awesome to hear the buzz in the office regarding what stores hosted the best deals on winter apparel. One of our elves even volunteered her time to shop for those whose schedules were a bit too full. Personally I think she just loves to shop, but it was a generous offer!
Overall, JETPUBS collected 20 hats, 19 pairs of gloves, and 3 scarves to donate to those in need. It was amazing to see everyone pull together to make a difference for people in our community whom we have never even met. We were incredibly humbled to give back to our community, and we look forward to finding more ways to give back in the future.
