Chapter 8 – Reviewing: Keeping Your System Functional

I thought the first sentence of Chapter 8 was important. The purpose of this whole method of workflow management is not to let your brain become lax, but rather to enable it to move toward more elegant and productive activity. For this system to work, it cannot be static. This system must be kept up to date. Using this system properly will trigger consistent and appropriate evaluation of your life and work at several horizons. So the two things that need to be accomplished now are: What do you look at in all this, and when? What do you need to do, and how often, to ensure that all of it works as a consistent system freeing you to think and manage at a higher level? David goes on to talk about conducting a weekly review. The weekly review will help keep balance.

I believe after reading this chapter I will do what David says regarding in what order to look at, when. When I come into the office in the morning, the first thing I am going to look at is my calendar. This will give me a good overview of what has to get done. After I know what my day looks like, I can review my list of actions for items I am able to complete. I think having a weekly review is a great idea. I was trying to figure out when I would have time to process all my new notes and sticky notes. The weekly review will be a great way to stay on top of everything.
