Most of us developed a love affair for Fridays at a very early age. Fridays symbolize the end of a school week or a work week, Fridays symbolize the start of the weekend, and now here at JETPUBS, Fridays symbolize freedom…literally.

On Friday, November 1st, 2013, JETPUBS hosted its initial “First Friday Free Day,” where each employee was required to step away from the organized everyday work and get creative on the first Friday of each month. Employees were allowed to use any and all JETPUBS resources to complete their projects and collaboration was encouraged. So what kind of creative projects did our group come up with? We certainly saw it all as people took to their computers, legal pads, and even the walls to express their ideas and get their creative juices flowing.

A few Manuals Department employees put their experienced FrameMaker skills to use to begin creating a JETPUBS cookbook, while our Head of Training Materials looked into building an electric car. Some employees focused on personal goals, such as creating visual motivation boards to pay off student loans and drafting the initial chapters of a book that has been sitting on the back burner for almost ten years.

“We’ve considered doing something like this for years, but we finally felt like this was the right time for our creative team,” said Larissa Fildes, Director of Operations. “It’s a great way to promote creativity and develop ideas to give back to the industry.” Stay tuned to see what kinds of creative projects emerge from our next First Friday Free Day!
