Do one thing at a time. Do one thing at a time? Do one thing at a time! Are you kidding? Who has time to sit and focus on just one particular thing? There is so much to do every day and it all has to get done. You can imagine how one may begin to feel overwhelmed and maybe a bit like a sinking ship when they first get a glimpse of their day’s workload. We’ve all had this feeling before and it is not pleasant. So, what can we do to avoid this feeling in our day-to-day lives?
Learn how to FOCUS. The list of benefits from being focused is infinite. Being able to focus allows one to set their goals and develop strategies to accomplish them. The more you are able to focus on your current situation will lessen your stress and build trust in your life. Follow these simple suggestions from Karen Pallarito (a writer for HealthDay.com) and make it a habit to implement them in your everyday routine:
Write it down – whatever it is, whether it be a long thought or a quick jot.
Map it out – list out everything that must get done.
Create the right environment – make sure you are in a place where you can get into your zone.
Prioritize tasks – arrange the day’s tasks in order of importance.
Take a quick break – Yes, take a break!
Set a timer – this will keep you aware of your progress and how much time is left on each task.
Plan some joy – think about something fun you are going to do after you complete all your work. Dairy Queen anyone?
Delegate – know when you can share tasks.
Record it – plan whatever is going through your mind at the end-of-day for your “to-do” tomorrow.
