Vehicles with lime green paint line the gravel road as we approach the starting point. These cars feature sayings like “Pain now, beer later” and “Where’s the Rum?” An unknown passer-by might assume that these cars are all headed to a local bar crawl, but these cars are actually filled with teams of runners on their way to complete a 50-mile relay.
Team JETPUBS joined over 450 other individuals to compete in the Door County Fall 50, a running adventure that has been named “the most scenic distance run in the Midwest.” Our team included Sarah Anderson, Diane Halweg, Rob Johnson, Rochelle Johnson, and Lauren Olson. The majority of our team were no strangers to the running world, most having completed 5Ks, 10ks, and even the Fall 50 in previous years. For Lauren Olson though, the Fall 50 marked her first ever running event. “It was an incredible experience and a great way to strengthen our team. I’m so grateful that JETPUBS sponsors such wonderful activities like this for their employees, and I was honored to compete as part of Team JETPUBS,” said Olson.
Team leader Diane Halweg successfully completed the Fall 50 for the third year in a row. “It’s a great team building experience,” said Halweg. “This kind of accomplishment really opens your eyes up to how much you’re capable of doing. My first year competing in the Fall 50 I never thought I would be able to finish, but once you achieve something that you never thought you could do, suddenly the challenges in life aren’t quite as scary anymore.”
The team completed the run in less than 10 hours, and celebrated the only way any true Fall 50 runner knows how – with unlimited pizza and alcohol, one of the Fall 50’s many benefits. Team JETPUBS looks forward to competing next year in the 2014 Door County Fall 50!
